Black Mustard

Here are a few more images of this stately plant. Note the very rough leaves. It is remarkable that so massive a plant can grow from such a tiny seed in a few months. The Bible mentions this phenomenon when Jesus compares it to the Kingdom of Heaven:

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

Well it is not quite a tree but a little hyperbole works nicely here.
